AXIS-BUILT BRIDGE WINS AWARD
The replacement of the bridge along Main Street, Blackburn, which Axis Infrastructure was the head contractor for, recently won a commendation award from the Institute of Public Works Engineering Australasia (IPWEA) in the category of ‘Excellence in a Public Works Project less than $2M’.
Having been in place since at least 1945, undertaking maintenance works on the bridge was no longer viable, and a replacement bridge similar in dimensions and function needed to be built. Several challenges were faced during the construction of the bridge, including working around service utilities and the disruptions caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.
Axis Infrastructure thanks Whitehorse City Council for the opportunity to have worked on the project.
